President Trump issued a 48-hour ultimatum demanding Iran fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz, or face attacks on its energy infrastructure.

In a message posted on Truth Social, President Trump warned that the U.S. would strike Iran’s power plants, starting with the largest facility, if the shipping lane is not fully restored and the threat eliminated.

The Strait of Hormuz — through which about 20% of global oil is transported — has been under Iranian control for weeks after a U.S.–Israeli military campaign beginning in late February caused tensions around the Strait of Hormuz to escalate.

The disruption pushed Brent crude past $100 per barrel, a sharp rise from around $70 before the crisis.

Iran declared it would use rising oil prices as a strategic leverage tool.

Following the U.S. warning, Iran responded that any attack on its energy infrastructure would trigger retaliatory strikes targeting U.S. and Israeli energy facilities, technology assets, and desalination systems in the region.

President Trump asserted that the military campaign is progressing faster than expected, while criticizing the media’s coverage.

He maintained that Iran’s military capabilities have been severely degraded, including its naval and air forces.

Earlier, President Trump said he had no interest in a ceasefire option and emphasized that the primary goal is to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

The possibility of deploying forces to control the Strait of Hormuz or the Kharg Island area remains on the table.

The latest developments show tensions continuing to rise, with the risk of expanded conflict in the Middle East.
