A student at Hazel Green High School in Alabama was removed from campus on Thursday after school officials discovered an airsoft gun and a part of a real firearm in the student's vehicle.

According to the Madison County School System, the school received a prior tip, which led to coordination with law enforcement to search the student and their vehicle.

The search did not find any weapons on the student's person or inside the school building. However, authorities found an airsoft gun and a real firearm part in the vehicle, similar to recent reports of guns found in student backpacks in Georgia.

The student was immediately taken into custody and removed from the school by the Madison County Sheriff's Office. Incidents such as the arrest of two students for shooting threats demonstrate the high level of vigilance by authorities in protecting educational environments. The school stated the student will not return to campus pending the outcome of the investigation, potential charges, and disciplinary decisions according to Madison County regulations.

Education officials noted that the incident highlights the effectiveness of school security systems, particularly the anonymous Safe Schools Tip Line designed to prevent heartbreaking tragedies like the fatal shooting of a student at Baker High School.
